Eden Speech and Language Therapy offers the following services:
- Initial Assessment with a Report: This is a comprehensive initial assessment of the child’s speech, language and communication skills. This includes taking a case history from parents/carers which allows the therapist to get a full picture of the child. Sessions last between 60-90 minutes. Following the assessment a report is provided which includes:
- assessment results and explanation;
- advice and practical activities for parents and school staff to work with the child;
- recommendations for future therapy.
- Therapy Sessions: Following the initial assessment, individual therapy is planned that targets the specific needs of the child. Often this is a block of therapy sessions conducted on a weekly basis, but there is flexibility here with opportunity for fortnightly or more frequent therapy as appropriate. Therapy sessions last between 30-60 minutes.
- Follow up work is provided after each therapy session, to be completed during the week, and it is highly recommended that your child is supported to practise in between sessions, in order to maximise their progress. Children make the best progress when they are supported collaboratively by school and home, and therefore with parental permission, advice and recommendations will be passed on to school staff to support your child’s development.
- Review Assessment Sessions: Following therapy the child’s progress can be re-assessed again, and their needs re-evaluated.
